Sarah Brauner-Otto
Dr. Sarah Brauner-Otto (Ph.D., University of Michigan) is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at MSU. Her research is focused broadly on the relationship between social context and individual behavior in the United States and in Nepal. Dr. Brauner-Otto’s current projects explore new conceptualizations of educational, religious, and health service contexts, attempt to increase our understanding of how the macro (social context) and micro (individual) are related, and investigate the specific attitudinal and programmatic mechanisms through which these aspects of social context influence family related behaviors such as contraceptive use, marriage, and childbearing. At the SSRC Dr. Brauner-Otto will further expand her research on health and spatial demography by investigating rural health and mortaily in the U.S.
