Dr. Beaulieu has been director of the Southern Rural Development Center (SRDC) since August 1997. He also is a professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics, Mississippi State University. Dr. Beaulieu’s professional efforts have been devoted to human and social capital resource issues in the rural U.S. and South, educational and career aspirations of youth, workforce preparedness of rural youth, community leadership development and public on welfare reform, workforce investment, rural labor markets and community asset mapping. He is the author of numerous publications, including edited book volumes, book chapters and articles, which address rural development, education and workforce issues in America. Dr. Beaulieu received his master’s and doctoral degrees in sociology from Purdue University.
