Ashley Cole Loftin
Ms. Ashley Loftin is a Research Associate I with the Social Science Research Center (SSRC) at Mississippi State University (MSU). Ms. Loftin holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from MSU and is currently working on an Master of Science in Workforce Educational Leadership. Ms. Loftin’s experience includes the coordination of field research in regional emergency planning directed by Dr. Laura Myers, Research Professor, of the SSRC at MSU in Mississippi and Alabama. She currently works with emergency managers, first responders, non-profit organizations, the National Weather Service and citizens to support emergency planning activities. Her most recent activities include support for Dr. Laura Myers’ research project on the development and implementation of an analysis for the National Weather Association of how people reacted to weather warnings during the April 27, 2011 tornadoes in Alabama and a study of how weather warnings can be improved for the National Weather Service (NWS) in Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas and Louisiana. In addition, her responsibilities include editing and gathering information for the SSRC monthly chronology, updating the personnel information of staff and students on the SSRC website and in the ongoing development of a Culturomics Laboratory for Dr. Arthur G. Cosby, William L. Giles Distinguished Professor and Director of the SSRC. Ms. Loftin completed the Leadership Strategies course, The Effective Facilitator. Ms. Loftin also completed the Memphis Mediation course, Civil to Family Law Cross-Over Training, and is now a trained mediator.
