Media Collaboration Laboratory
The Media Collaboration Laboratory is an integral part of the Social Science Research Center. Using the latest technology, the Media Collaboration Laboratory uses practical communication media to identify and illustrate the internationally recognized research conducted at SSRC. The laboratory is supervised by Dr. Laura Richardson Walton, APR, an assistant professor in the Department of Communication at Mississippi State University. She oversees all public relations efforts, which range from Web site development to managing social networking tools to the production and publication of traditional publicity pieces. Dr. Walton’s supervises a team of student interns from the Department of Communication, who actively participate in developing ideas and assisting research fellows and associates with numerous ongoing projects. Additionally, interns gain experience for life beyond the classroom and the MCL boasts an impressive post-graduation employment rate.
The Media Collaboration Laboratory features seven 24” iMac computers with Adobe’s CS5 Suite and Apple’s Final Cut Studio 2 software. This powerful combination of hardware and software allows the Media Collaboration Laboratory to create professional presentations, ranging from brochures to logos and high definition videos. The MCL has fully embraced Twitter, Facebook and YouTube as effective communication portals for delivering information and maintains an active presence in these platforms.
