The Social Science Research Center (SSRC) at Mississippi State University in cooperation with MSU's Department of History and the Cobb Institute of Archaeology is developing a historic and archaeological interpretive program along the Mississippi section of the Great River Road (GRR). The research team has developed an inventory of historic and archaeological sites along the Great River Road suitable for development and inclusion in the GRR corridor.
The Historic and Archaeological Interpretation Report will be used by GRR communities, and other interested parties as the basis for preparing travelers' maps, brochures, guide books, kiosks, and historical markers for use in developing tourism along the Great River Road corridor.
