Intermittent Telephone Interviewer Position

The Wolfgang Frese Survey Research Laboratory regularly conducts scientifically-based telephone surveys for a variety of research projects. To help collect the data, the laboratory employs a large staff of telephone interviewers.

Telephone interviewers must read a script of survey items and collect response data from survey participants using a computer assisted telephone interviewing system.

The work is dependent upon the availability of survey related grant projects.

Compensation starts at $8.00 per hour. Because of regulations set forth by Mississippi State University, the telephone interviewer’s cannot work more than 720 hours per fiscal year, unless enrolled as a full-time student at Mississippi State University.

When there is survey work available, the laboratory is open M-F 5-9pm, Sat 10-6pm, and Sun 1-9pm. Of the nine 4-hour shifts available each week, most interviewers work four or five shifts. All interviewers must work at least one shift on the weekend.

For the telephone interviewer position, the survey laboratory maintains a pool of applications. As openings become available, qualified applications are pulled from the pool.
