SSRC Spotlight: Lori Stubbs
Hailing originally from Leavenworth, Kan., Lori Stubbs has made Starkville her home for the past 22 years and has been with the Social Science Research Center for the past 14. At the SSRC, Stubbs manages the wage payroll for over 400 employees, handles all employee paper work and direct pay, processes the various cost centers for the SSRC and handles miscellaneous expenditures.
“I love working with such a diverse group of people,” says Stubbs. “The SSRC is a really great working environment, and I enjoy being affiliated with the university.”
Stubbs is mother to three children, Jeremy, Megan and Dylan, who are all members of the Mississippi State University Bulldog family. Jeremy is a Mississippi State graduate with a degree in business information systems and a minor in accounting; he then earned a Master of Science in Human Resource Leadership from Sullivan University. He is currently living and working in Fort Knox, KY. Megan works at the Center as a graduate research assistant and is pursuing a master’s degree in sociology. She is working with Dr. Ron Cossman on the North Mississippi Area Health Education Center project. Dylan is a sophomore and is majoring in business.
Stubbs admits she is quite the family woman and enjoys traveling during the Christmas and summer holidays with her husband and children whenever she can. It has become a Stubbs’ family tradition to enjoy a cruise over the Christmas holidays to various tropical locations such as Mexico and the Caribbean. She hopes to one day travel to Europe.
“One of my dreams is to go to Italy and tour the beautiful vineyards and see all of the Old World buildings,” says Stubbs.
After a day of work, Stubbs enjoys spending time in her garden where she grows her own herbs to use in her cooking.
